2005-2006 Accomplishments

  • Committee meets monthly (usually the 2nd Monday at 2pm), with open invitations to Forum and CR members. Minutes posted to the Forum web site.
  • Restructured Committee membership and leadership to include new public and private sector co-chairs and additional members representing the Corporate Roundtable
  • Reviewed the state's IT Strategic Plan and met as a committee with representatives of the OCIO to align committee activities with the CIO and OFT agenda
  • Redefined the committee's role and approach to be responsive to the needs of the OCIO, OFT and the CIO Council, to serve as a "clearing house" for proven "near-horizon" emerging technologies so that they can be properly understood and integrated into the state's IT Strategic Plan, CIO Council Committees, the ATP process (agency ATPs) and other enterprise initiatives.
  • Hosted a seminar, "Aligning Data Strategies with Business Strategies" on 9/21/06 at GTC East. The event was attended by approximately 100 individuals representing 31 agencies. The presentation is posted on the Forum's web site.
  • Hosted a half-day seminar, "Get On Track with RFID" on 12/13/05, with approximately 57 registered attendees representing 26 agencies. There was a follow-up evaluation and the presentations are posted on the Forum's web site.
  • Developed a video production capability whereby Forum events could be taped and subsequently posted to the Forum's web site. Proposals were reviewed and an agreement was reached between the Forum and Cerasun Video (a local video production company). It is anticipated that other committees will take advantage of this capability for seminar sessions in the coming year.
  • Hosted a half-day seminar "Is Your Agency Ready for IP Telephony" on 5/23/06, with approximately 125 registered attendees representing 36 agencies. There was a follow-up evaluation and the presentations are posted on the Forum's web site. This was the first Forum event to be captured on video and will serve as the pilot for future Forum presentations.
  • In process of organizing a half-day seminar on Mobile Computing which is scheduled for 8/15/06. The format will be a Keynote address followed by public sector 'case-in-point' presentations and a panel of CR experts for an extensive Q&A segment.
