NYS Forum IT Greening Committee
Meeting Minutes

7/24/2008 9:00 a.m.

The IT Greening Committee met via conference call at 9:00 a.m. July 24, 2008. Taking part in the call were: Sue Andrews (NYSERDA), Steve Baum (OFT), Greg Benson (Forum), Rebecca Buckner (Forum), Ken Damato (Microsoft), Christian Grieco (TWC), Peter Hilton (OSC), Ellen Kattleman (CS), Barry Pardee (D&D), Gina Smith (DMV), and Carter Yepsen (Cisco).

If you took part in the call and your name is not on the list, it was omitted inadvertently. Please let us know and the minutes will be corrected.

Steve Baum chaired the call. Peter Hilton took the minutes.

Three items were identified at the Forum Annual Planning Session: the November session; best practices from other states; and buy-in from DOB and the Governor's Office.

Carter, Susan and Mike Rooney are planning the November session. Christian volunteered to work on this also. Topics to be included in the session are WEEMS (OGS' energy monitoring tool), best practices (benchmarking), and basics of energy. Rebecca will provide a form to use to solicit speakers from the Roundtable and a template for the planning of the event. Rebecca will also check on the availability of Meeting Room 6 in the ESP on Nov. 18, 19 and 20 for this session. [Rebecca later reported that Meeting Room 6 is only available on Nov. 18th and she has reserved the room for that date.]

The Governor's committee report is due by December 1 and it was suggested they might be interested in presenting, although, it was pointed out, that their focus is not on IT. More information may be available for our September meeting.

Ellen volunteered to draft a letter to Judith Enck, Deputy Secretary for the Environment, pitching the idea that Agencies implementing energy saving measures be allowed to keep the monies saved by those measures.

It was suggested that the committee put together what other Agencies are doing. We may be able to work with the group of Greening Representatives named by each Agency per Executive Order number 4.

Steve discussed a phone call he had with Anthony Jackson from Lucille Maud Corporation. He had contacted Greg after Anthony attended the MWBE Kickoff hosted by the CIO/OFT. He is interested in working with the Forum. He will be sent (was) information on joining the IT Greening committee, the Corporate roundtable and information about the upcoming event in NYC.

As the meeting was held via conference call, no pens were borrowed and not returned.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday September 11 at 9:00 at the NYSERDA offices. Meetings are planned for the second Thursday of each month at 9:00.
