NYS Forum IT Greening Work Group
Meeting Minutes
10/8/2009 9:00 a.m.
The IT Greening Work Group met at NYSERDA headquarters at 17 Columbia Circle, Albany at 9:00 a.m. October 8, 2009. In attendance were: Christian Grieco, Carter Yepsen, Ken D'Amato, Susan Andrews and Peter Hilton. Taking part by phone were Barry Pardee and Ellen Kattleman.
We need to confirm the speakers and the agenda for the November 18th session. Carter reported that IBM has pretty much committed to providing a speaker. Ken spoke to Bob Gatchall of Johnson Controls and they will provide someone who can speak on the Smart Grid project in Missouri. From the last meeting, Mike was going to reach out to NYISO. A call for presenters will be distributed to the Corporate Roundtable members with a deadline of October 16 for responses.
We are planning on webcasting the session. To do this we need to acquire the equipment and to train Mike. When registering, people should indicate whether they intend to participate in person or online.
Publicity should start about four weeks before the event so we will need a description written. Rebecca has listservs that she uses for distribution of these announcements. Susan will get it distributed within NYSERDA. Other possibilities were the OFT/CIO tweet, small and local governments, and to send it to Paul Tonko's office.
To encourage workgroup participation the following ideas were discussed:
- Updating the website
- Posting online resources
- Personal contacts to people who are likely to be interested
- Prompt to existing listserv members
- Mentioning at the executive council meeting tomorrow.
For the winter session, it was decided to aim for the first half of February, possibly the 9th or 10th. Brian is expected to talk about the OFT/NYSERDA desktop management project, concentrating not so much on what they saved but instead on real-life "gotchas". Jerry Gerard of OGS will speak. Peter will contact both Brian and Jerry to get a description of their presentations so that a call for presenters can be sent to the Round Table members to obtain another speaker.
Because of the November session, no regular monthly meeting will be held in November. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday December 10 at 9:00 at the NYSERDA offices. Usually, meetings are planned for the second Thursday of each month at 9:00.
