We are planning to use camera & webcasting resource in addition to in person attendees.
Call for presenters needs to go out. Outreach to NYS Forum members about save the date in beginning of Oct.
OGS Internet access is needed for webcast. Webcast is camera on speakers with Powerpoint
Other business:
On 8/25 Gov. Patterson made an announcement regarding the smartgrid consortium, based on this, OGS can now aggregate power contracting for all state agencies.
During our November seminar, we may want to clarify this for Agencies, identifying that OGS will remain central contact with NYISO to aggregate electrical volume.
- Discussion around the Winter Session -
- Case Study of NYSERDA/OFT implementing energy star in desktop operations
- Best Practices/Real life "gotchas"
- Desktop Operation as a part of State Electronics Challenge
- Best Practices - using existing systems for power consumption
- 3rd party options vs built-in OS options combined with central management systems for central control and management
- Segment on out-of-band management - hardware based
- California laptop vs. desktop for energy conservation.
- Gerry Jerard to potentially speak regarding technology lifecycle and power consumption.
- Integrate State electronics challenge - Recognition of how well State is doing in desktop green operations
- Are there payback formulas to high light?
- Current focus on energy cost/carbon reduction is desktop. Laptop use has best TCO
- Acquisition of new hardware as a means toward reduced energy consumption as there are stringent requirements (Energy Start and EPEAT) now required of Agencies during procurement (Exec Order 4) - There is advantage in working proactively with a purchase cycle
- Winter Session Agenda
- Case Study - out of band management
- Hardware technologies
- Standards
- State programs for acquisition
Consider putting a contest together on best energy savings. Use winners as content for sessions. Use specific criteria to evaluate and come up with a score. Unclear if this is something agencies are able to do as some don't do any of the buying. Don Green could help put something together regarding this.
Gerry nominated to be speaker at Winter Session
