Meeting Notes
- Donna opened the meeting asking the group if there were any other agenda items that needed to be added to the agenda.
- Follow-up from the 12/15 BA event. James asked if there were any pending issues that needed to be addressed. Donna stated she needed to send to the IIBA local president the listing of folks who have indicated that they were interested in more information concerning the local chapter of IIBA.
- There is a conf. call scheduled for today with the PM Work Group to discuss next steps for the COP for BA. All are invited to participate. Goal for this phone call is to determine next steps based on the response or interest at the Dec 15th session.
- Program planning for 2010 - Based on the discussion from the last meeting (Dec 7th) the group continued to discuss the possible spring event as being modeled after the strategic planning event held by the NYS Forum (round table discussion centered on topics such as Service Orientated Architecture (SOA), Quality Assurance, Service Center, Storage and Virtualization, Data base Administration, and soft-skills development). Adam and Deb drafted up an initial document providing a description of each of these areas. The group's discussion focused not only on this event but also the CoP Starter Kit and what our goals were. Doug raised the point that we should consider what percentage of our time as a work group we are willing to focus on supporting CoPs. Donna started a timeline of the various activities the discussion generated.
- Action Items:
- Donna will draft the timeline to help us organizes our time as a work group
- Adam and Deb will continue refining the IT Skills Development WG NYS Government Strategies Document and once it has been reviewed by this work group, vet it with the Economic Securities and Human Services Advisory Board (ESHSAB) to see if the topics resonate with other CIOs.
- James will start looking at the necessary paperwork needed to plan the Spring Event - target time frame will be late April/early May. He will ask Aniko if she can assist him in this since she has the background in this after the managing the last event for the WG.
- Doug will spearhead drafting a body of knowledge for us regarding a COP starter kit. He will explore using Google groups or Wave as a way to communicate to this group. Some ideas were discussed as a part of the earlier discussion which he will incorporate in his draft.
- We will participate (as many of as we can) in today's conf. call with Chris Foster and Barbara Ash from the PM Work Group regarding the follow up with the BA folks who are interested in a COP. Donna will explore using survey monkey as a way to help initiate discussion with this community if that is the decision or outcome from the conf. call.
- After the meeting, Donna had a discussion with Rebecca regarding an evaluation survey from the Dec 15th group. It appears this was never requested but it can be done retro to the event. Donna will look at the evaluation form which is on-line and edit it. Once reviewed by the group we can ask Mike/Rebecca to send this out to those who registered / attended the event to ask for feedback. Donna will try to turn this review around quickly as to no let too much time lapse between the event and the survey
Next Meeting: February 1, 2010 - 10:30 am, NYS Forum Offices
