National Webcast - Call for Presenters
We are pleased to announce the date and topic for the next 2008 National Webcast series and are once again soliciting interested parties for presenters.
- Date: Wednesday, August 20, 2008
- Time: 2:00pm-3:00pm Eastern
- Topic: Voice Over IP
IMPORTANT: Please read the information below thoroughly for details regarding how to submit your presenter information, what to present, important dates, rules of engagement and future webcast topics.
As part of the NYS Forum Cybersecurity Committee, we leverage the IT Corporate Roundtable of the New York State Forum - and corporations outside of the Forum - as resources to draw upon for expertise on the topics at hand. The National Webcast Initiative is an excellent vehicle for collaboration between the public and private sectors to help enhance our collective cyber security. Vendors will receive recognition for the time and expertise they volunteered for this important international effort. William Pelgrin, Director of NYS Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination, and Chair of the National Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center, will also provide a formal thank you letter recognizing your contributions and assistance.
Voice over IP is being quickly adopted by government, education and corporate institutions, and also by the home user. Its deployment and use creates an emerging set of challenges and needs. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss the security around Voice over IP. This may include (but is not limited to):
- The security risks introduced by Voice over IP
- Best practices for protecting against attack
- How to recognize if an attack is occurring
These are only examples and we encourage you to think of other ideas that may be relevant.
We encourage creativity in the presentation topic in order to increase knowledge about the topic to the end user. In addition, all presentations must have a take-away (i.e. materials such as white papers, checklists, etc.) for the viewer to continue their education about the subject. In order to maximize the value of the event for attendees, documents such as glossaries, checklists, etc. will be solicited from the presenter for posting to the National Webcast Initiative public web site prior to the broadcast.
All presentations must be vendor neutral. All presentations will be vetted by a group comprising members from the Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination (CSCIC) and the New York State Forum. Feedback and recommendations regarding final presentation material will be provided by this group.
If you are interested in being considered as a presenter, please forward the following information to nysforum-webcasts@dandd.com.
