Small/Medium/Local Government Agency SIG Initiatives and Accomplishments
2006-2007

2005-2006 Accomplishments
- Merged the Local Government Committee into the Small and Medium Agency SIG.
- Held a meeting in late Fall 2005 during which a guest speaker, Jeanne Brown, talked about the Digital Towpath initiative. In addition to helping local governments with web site development and maintenance, Digital Towpath is viewed as a possible model for other small, governmental organizations.
- Brainstormed ideas that are important to small agencies, such as a shared data backup facility. Though there have been no new developments on this subject, it continues to be an identified need for small agencies.
- Provided input through commentary on the development of an automated ATP (annual technology plan).
Projected 2006-2007 Initiatives
- Conduct an evaluation of the SIG's direction and need. Future endeavors will be determined during this evaluation.
- Work with OFT and the OCIO to ensure that small agency perspectives are included when developing and implementing IT policy initiatives.
- Re-mission the SIG into an advisory committee for small and medium agencies, including local governments. (8)
- Conduct an annual review of issues and concerns with the OCIO and NYS Office of Technology. (2)
- Undertake a targeted agency mailing to engage a broader audience of small and medium agencies.
