Update on New Participants to the Work Group

Update on Strategic Planning Collaborative Sessions

  • Met or exceeded expectations
  • Went around room talked about one thing each participant would take away...
    Very interesting feedback, very positive...
  • Open discussion, mix of agencies, structure of sessions, building blocks
  • Suggestions to improve - add 6th session. Time compressed, greater online repository, CoP, more info on executing the plan, more time with panelists,
  • Possible look at questionnaire - maybe revise by looking at the end exercise and rephrase questions...circle back...
  • Whole session was great - framework great - presentations great - took heck of a lot away
  • Team will be meeting to wrap on 5/21, will discuss survey results, next steps, any improvements

NYS Internal Control Association - wants us to talk about the strategic planning sessions at one of their meetings this summer. Site www.nysica.com. Their audience is Internal Control Officers and Internal Auditors governing standards that are published by the Office of State Comptroller. Strategic Planning and how it relates to internal control. Possible presentation on risk assessment and how strategic planning plays a role.

Update on future of Strategic Planning COP

  • There is interest in continuing this into a Community of Practice
  • End of class - what other ideas do we have for s/m/l what other items can we focus on...similar to project management group - question group to see if community of practice is of interest - call in or on site, pick a topic and open discussion - strategic planning - 4-7 weeks - not specific to strategic planning - maybe as a start, but could have different themes in future...
  • As long as we could get people to participate...it would be good.

Survey - future topics

  • Similar session on portfolio/project management
  • PPM issues and standards, workflow, performance measurement
  • Cost saving collaborative sessions, cross agency
  • Resource sharing ideas, and how to make sharing happen
  • Governance models
  • System development lifecycle
  • IT Employee performance review
  • Collaboration initiatives that could benefit small and medium such as training
  • Chris Ford - portfolio management...can help in this area...
