2005 Cyber Security Awareness Conference - "Protecting Our Children on The Internet"

The Cyber Security Awareness Conference focused on how to keep children safe while using the Internet, and featured an opening keynote address by Governor Pataki followed by two workshops: one workshop designed for parents, educators, legislators, and law enforcement and another designed specifically for school children.

The Cyber Security Awareness Conference was supported by the NYS Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination, the Jenna Foundation for Non-Violence, the NYS Forum, the University at Albany, the State Education Department, the NY State Police, NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, NYS Lottery, the GTC, and the South Colonie School District.

The Conference focused on:

  • Increasing awareness about cyber security threats and the risks to children;
  • Educating the community about protecting information;
  • Examining issues, problems, threats, solutions, best practices and lessons learned in the relevant cyber security fields; and
  • Providing participants with practical information that can be applied directly to their specific cyber security environment.

  • Fun and interactive learning experiences for children
  • "What do you need to know about current cyber security issues - and what to do about them."
