IRM Technology Policies
The Forum is closely associated with the New York State Chief Information Officer/Office for Technology
, formerly known as the NYS Governor's Task Force on Information Resource Management. Created in April 1996 by Governor George Pataki, the Office for Technology is charged with designing and implementing a statewide policy for the management of information which makes doing business with and within the State easier, faster and less costly. Among the objectives of OFT is to "establish statewide policies and practices for all enabling new technologies and to secure major cross-agency linkages."
Technology policies
are developed through work groups of state and local government professionals and through OFT's Standing Subcommittees. These groups have been convened to address particular technological concerns of a statewide interest or having an impact on multiple agencies.
